Confidence and fluency are unreliable substitutes for a careful judgement process.

Pragmatic review

Kahneman gives readers a vocabulary for intuitive and deliberative thinking, framing and common judgement errors. Its pragmatic value is the design of decisions: compare options against a reference class, record assumptions and slow down where error is costly. Use the concepts to improve a process before diagnosing other people’s biases.

WTM Signal Review

WTM’s judgement: a foundational decision lens whose individual research claims still deserve scrutiny. Memorable examples are not universal laws, and naming a bias does not prove it caused an outcome. Ask which safeguard would remain useful even if a favourite illustrative experiment were weaker than expected.

One practical next step

Write an estimate, a reference class and the evidence that would change the estimate before a consequential decision.
